Guidance Information - COVID-19

SCHOOL CLOSURE - TUESDAY 5th JANUARY

Christmas Holiday Arrangements - COVID-19 Notification and Tracing

As you are aware, from our previous letter regarding tracing over the holiday period (Christmas tracing email), we are committed to ensuring that we continue to keep everyone as safe as we can and support the NHS, Public Health England and the DfE in notifying anyone who may have come into direct contact with someone who has tested positive within the 48 hours prior to them displaying symptoms or gaining a positive test result.

Therefore, if a child or member of staff becomes symptomatic any time up to 11.59pm on Sunday 20 December, we must trace their contacts back 48 hours, which will include Friday 18 December and possibly Thursday 17 December.

If your child tests positive for COVID-19 please:

Contact Test and Trace and share all your close contacts, as instructed by the text you will receive with the result.

Email covid@st-francis-pri.hants.sch.uk with the following details:

  • Name of child
  • Child’s class
  • Date and time of onset of symptoms
  • What symptoms
  • Date test was taken
  • Date and time positive result received
  • Contact name and number for parent

Upon receiving your email, I will contact the DfE helpline and Public Health England as appropriate, speak with you, and then send an email and app message to all direct contacts identified to inform them they must self-isolate in line with government guidelines.

We have created a helpful table with isolation period required in line with the date a person either develops symptoms or tests positive (whichever is earliest).

Please may we ask that you do not send your child back to school on Monday 4 January and notify our school office if they, or anyone from your household, displays any symptom of COVID-19 (symptoms).

Thank you for continuing to work with us to try and keep everyone within our school community as safe as possible.

Isolation due to possible or confirmed coronavirus infection information

If your child tests positive or a person within your household, or Christmas bubble, tests positive, the isolation period is 10 days.

This isolation period includes the day your symptoms started (or the day your test was taken if you do not have symptoms), and the next 10 full days (taken from Stay at home: guidance for households with possible or confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) infection). We have put together a useful table, below, to help with this.

If you do not have symptoms of COVID-19 yourself, you do not need a test.

Dates in orange would potentially result in bubbles of pupils needing to isolate.

Dates in yellow would result in your child not returning to school on 4th January.

Date of test (if no symptoms)

COVID School Risk Assessment

The NHS COVID-19 app

From Monday 2nd November 2020 we will expect all visitors (including parents) who enter our school building to check-in to our school using the NHS COVID-19 app to support the NHS Test and Trace service.

We will clearly display the QR Code for this at the front of our school.

Visitors to our school will also be required to sign into our visitors book for safeguarding reasons.

There are many helpful guides to support you to download and use the app at: https://covid19.nhs.uk/ and we have also included some useful documents below.

Please do contact our school office if you have any questions.

Thank you for your support.
