In Year 2, the children continue to follow the RWI (Read Write Inc) phonics programme. Once the children have completed the Grey colour band, they will progress onto learning Year 2 spelling patterns and rules. 

Once the children have completed the Grey colour band, they will also become a Year 2 'Star Reader'. This means they can choose from a selection of books which have been carefully chosen from the school library. These books will provide the children with appropriate challenge and will continue to deepen their comprehension skills.
