St Francis CE Primary School governing body are running a consultation on their proposal to change the length of the KS2 school day.  The consultation will run from Tuesday 06 January to Monday 23 February 2026 (9.00am).

The change to the length of the school day is outlined in the table below.  There is currently a discrepancy in the length of school day for EYFS/KS1 children and staff, and the length of school day for KS2 children and staff. As a school, we need to bring all children and staffs’ school day in line with each other.

The proposal to change the KS2 day to 6 hours and 30 minutes totals 32 hours and 30 minutes across a school week. Reducing the school day will result in 10 minutes less school time per day for our KS2 pupils; this will average out to under 5 minutes of reduced learning for each curriculum subject in a week. This change will bring our school day in line with government guidance and consistent with all local infant, junior and primary schools.
